SAMBURG, Tenn. — Two Samburg volunteer firefighters were injured when their fire truck overturned while responding to a mutual aid call for a field fire in Obion County, according to Fire Chief Mike Hogg.
The Samburg Volunteer Fire Department was responding to a request from the Union City Fire Department when the apparatus overturned on Walker Tanner Road, according to WBBJ. Hogg said the driver was unfamiliar with the road and lost control while navigating a curve, causing the truck to roll over.
“Their conditions are good,” Hogg said. The driver sustained a laceration to his ear and was taken to a hospital, where the wound was treated. The second firefighter was flown to Regional One Health in Memphis, where tests found no broken bones; he was released from the hospital.
Other Obion County fire departments are providing coverage while the two firefighters recover, Hogg said.
