INGALLS, Okla. — An Ingalls firefighter has returned home and is able to walk after suffering a broken back and neck in a tanker rollover crash earlier this month, according to fire officials.

Josh Contreras was seriously injured when the fire apparatus he and fellow firefighter Jace Wilson were riding in suffered a tire blowout, causing the truck to roll over several times before coming to rest in the woods. The two were returning from an incident call when the crash occurred.

Stillwater firefighters extricated one of the injured firefighters at the scene before both were transported to the hospital.

Wilson has since been released from the hospital. Contreras is now able to walk, though fire officials said his recovery will be lengthy.
