LOS ANGELES — A traffic accident in South Los Angeles involving a Los Angeles Fire Department truck sent seven people to the hospital Sunday afternoon, according to the department.
Three civilian vehicles and one Fire Department vehicle were involved in the crash on Figueroa Street, just north of 120th Street, in the Vermont Vista neighborhood, the LAFD said in a statement. The hospitalized victims included six civilians and one LAFD member, one of whom had to be extricated from their vehicle.
The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating the incident. LAPD and LAFD spokespeople said they could not immediately provide additional information.
Sunday’s crash came just days after another LAFD vehicle was involved in a collision on city streets. On Sept. 9, an ambulance transporting a seriously injured patient was involved in a crash with another vehicle that injured three LAFD personnel and one other person.
